Write a Letter to your Elected Officials

Writing a personal letter tells elected officials how their constituents feel and puts real people and stories in place of faceless policies. Take a moment to fill out the form below to prepare a letter to your local elected official.

By sharing my e-mail address and phone number, I agree to receive emails, phone calls and/or text messages from Families for Excellent Schools related to school activities and advocacy opportunities, including auto-dialed or pre-recorded calls and text messages.

To My Elected Official,

My name is [Your full name] and I’m the proud parent of a student at [Your child’s school]. Right now public charter students are not being given equal access to public space and receive significantly less in public funding because he/she attends a public charter school. I’m writing to ask you to make this right.

My family was thrilled when we found out my son/daughter got a spot at this school, because we know that getting a great education will provide opportunities throughout his/her life. I think all families deserve to send their child to school every morning knowing that they were able to make the choice that is best for their family.

Despite the fact that [Your child’s school] is performing so well and creating opportunities for my family, I have had to continuously advocate to ensure my school has the space and funding they need to serve their students.

My child is not worth less than any other student in his/her district. All public school students deserve access to public space and fair funding, including public charter school students.

I’m writing to ask you to support ALL public students and help ensure that our public charter schools are treated equitably.

Thank you,

[Your full name]
